The recently published 2022–2023 winter issue of our Board Magazine answers these and many other current questions concerning the trends and future of the packaging industry.

This issue is dedicated to the American market, where Metsä Board has been building good customer relationships and steadily growing for more than 30 years. These relationships and growth will continue – sustainably – in the future.

The magazine’s main story deals with the possibilities of future packaging and the changing landscape of the packaging industry. The emphasis on sustainability has made paperboard packages increasingly attractive, and the growth in demand has led to more efficient solutions being sought for material delivery and logistics services.

The magazine also features Crumbl Cookies, the fastest-growing cookie company in the United States, whose signature pink boxes have helped establish the company as a social media sensation. By using Metsä Board’s lightweight dispersion barrier board, Crumbl has been able to cut its board consumption by approximately 15 percent and reduce the use of plastic. Sustainability and the quest for better solutions also figure prominently in the Board Magazine, for example, L’Oréal cosmetics describes its own sustainability targets and the role they play in the company’s everyday operations.

In the expert interview, Mark Beamesderfer, Packaging Services Director for Metsä Board Americas, talks about resource efficiency and lighter-weight packaging: to safeguard the future of our planet, we must learn to consume less and make increasingly better use of our limited resources. This applies to everything, including packaging.
