Project Director Timo Rantatalo, how is the project progressing?
Work is progressing as planned at our Simpele mill, and currently, there’s a lot to be done in all project areas. We’ve stayed on schedule, thanks in part to favourable winter conditions. There hasn't been much snow in Simpele this winter, and the temperatures haven't been too low either, so the conditions have been excellent for the construction work so far.
What are the next steps for the project?
The construction work and the implementation planning of the technical details continue. In practice, we are now working to integrate the new technology with the old. In addition to the construction and installation work, we are also focusing on training and resource planning. A seamless cooperation with procurement and our suppliers is also essential to ensure we stay on schedule.
How are you preparing for any possible surprises as the project progresses?
When building or modernising a building, surprises usually always occur, so good preparation, sufficient communication, and proactive safety work are important tools we’re using to minimise all kinds of risks. As the work continues, the schedule will become more precise, but it is already clear that a lot will happen at the Simpele mill in the coming weeks and months!
