Metsä Board has performed to a high level in several ratings and assessments that look at the company's corporate governance and ability to manage environmental impacts and social responsibility and the risks related to them.

Metsä Board is one of of a small number of companies that achieved a triple A, out of over 22,000 companies scored. This is the third time that Metsä Board scored the prestigious triple ‘A’.

Metsä Board again scored the highest recognition level, “Platinum”, in the EcoVadis corporate social responsibility ranking in 2023.
The company’s score of 91/100 puts it in the top 1% of companies assessed in the manufacture of corrugated paper and paperboard and containers of paper and paperboard industries.

In June 2023, Metsä Board received the rating of AA in the category of Containers & Packaging in the MSCI ESG Ratings assessment.

In November 2023, Metsä Board received an overall ESG Risk Rating of 14.1 and is considered by Sustainalytics to be at low risk of experiencing material financial impacts from ESG factors.
Sustainalytics’ ESG Risk Ratings scores are divided into five categories ranging from Negligible (score 0–10) to Severe (40+). Scores between 10–20 are in the low-risk category.
