Metsä Fibre, part of Metsä Group, has been awarded a Platinum level rating by EcoVadis for the company's corporate social responsibility. Metsä Fibre’s result places the company among the top 1 percent of companies assessed by EcoVadis in the Manufacture of pulp, paper and paperboard industry.
“At Metsä Fibre, responsibility and sustainability are an integral part of everything we do, and strategically a key area for us. One concrete example of our aim to continuously improve our resource efficiency is our unique bioproduct mill concept where the aim is to utilize 100% of wood raw material, and continuously convert side streams from pulp production into bioproducts that offer higher added value than before. Also the new sawmill that we are currently building in Rauma will significantly contribute to reaching our target for fossil free mills, which is one of our 2030 sustainability targets,” says Ismo Nousiainen, CEO, Metsä Fibre.

EcoVadis assessments focus on 21 recognized CSI criteria which are grouped into 4 themes: Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Sustainable Procurement, and Ethics. Metsä Fibre was ranked especially high (90/100 points) on environmental topics. The methodology and criteria used by EcoVadis are in line with international Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) standards including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), UN Global Compact, and ISO 26000.
