Metsä Fibre, part of Metsä Group, has concluded the change negotiations on possible temporary layoffs at Lappeenranta and Vilppula sawmills. The negotiations covered the entire workforce of these two sawmills, a total of approximately 70 people in Lappeenranta and 100 in Vilppula.

After the change negotiations, it was decided that the Lappeenranta and Vilppula sawmills will implement temporary layoffs for the production personnel as needed due to current market conditions. The needed temporary layoffs will be implemented between September 2024 and January 2025. The allocation, amounts and dates of layoffs will be specified by the end of this year.
