Timber Performance Analysis
Different raw materials are needed for different purposes. Factors important to a customer may include, for example, the length or density of annual growth, moisture, knot size and the heartwood content of the product that determines the grading and sort.
The Timber Performance Analysis service finds the products that best meet the customer’s needs and, if necessary, the raw material for the products in question.
A Timber Performance Analysis is always conducted in close collaboration with the customer, and the suitability of the products for the customer’s workflow is ensured. The service model also includes detailed control and co-ordination of deliveries and logistics management. In addition, the supply of wood raw material can be controlled in accordance with the customer’s needs.
Our sawmills maintain the material efficiency and continuous production, to assess the consistency of the product quality.

The complete timber ordering solution
Metsä Timber Online offers our customers digital solutions in one place to browse, order and track all their sawn timber products on any device. Easy-to-use Marketplace interface makes it simple to select goods from a wide range and customise the time of delivery and destination. The service includes overall functions of online ordering, product information, technical details and pricing.
With the Track & Trace feature customers can monitor shipping and delivery in real time. All purchase history, order documentation and shipping records are automatically stored for future reference.
Sustainability services for timber customers
Certification assistance
We help you attain certification for your end products by compiling all relevant data and helping with the procedures. 95 per cent of our wood is certified according to international forest certification systems FSC or PEFC. Our production of sawn timber at all our sawmills are covered with certified management systems and chain of custody certifications. All Metsä Fibre products meet existing standards in terms of safety, sustainability and environmental performance, which means that we can provide all possible certifications for your Metsä Fibre raw materials.
Exploring forest in Metsä Experience
Metsä Experience Forest Visits offers customers support for their work to promote sustainable development. A Metsä Experience visit is an illustrative way to obtain information about Finnish forests and the origin of raw materials for sawn timber. During a one- or two-day on-site visit, the participants will learn about sustainable forest management, tracking the origin of wood, various harvesting patterns, and forest regeneration as well as witnessing biodiversity conservation. The programme for each Metsä Experience visit is designed to meet the participants’ needs, and the visits are hosted by our experts. In addition to learning about forest management, the participants will visit a Metsä Fibre sawmill to see sawn timber production in practice.
