Metsä Group will offer added benefits to its committed owner-members by paying a double bonus on wood purchased from thinned stands between 1 May and 31 August 2022.
“We always prioritise owner-members in our wood procurement. With the double bonus campaign, we want the good demand for wood to specifically benefit Metsä Group’s owner-members,” says Juha Jumppanen, EVP, Metsä Forest.
The double bonus will be offered to all members with the right to a bonus who sell wood from thinned stands to Metsä Group through standing sales between 1 May and 31 August. The double bonus will be paid for both log wood and pulpwood. The bonus paid per cubic metre is determined based on the volume of wood received from the owner-member in the previous four years and on the level of the agreement.
For members qualifying for the double bonus, this means an additional EUR 0.60 to EUR 2.80 per cubic metre.
“The double bonus campaign is a way to encourage our owner-members to do active wood trade with us and offer them an excellent opportunity to manage their forests,” says Jumppanen.
Thinning is a key forestry measure for producing premium log wood and increasing the share of logs.
In accordance with Metsä Group’s owner strategy, our most committed owner-members get the best member benefits. The double bonus will therefore be paid retroactively to our contract members for the price guarantee period that began at the end of 2021.
“Our contract members always get the best price for their wood, regardless of the time of sale,” Jumppanen says.
The bonus is offered to Metsäliitto Cooperative’s owner-members, who have sold at least 500 m3 of wood to Metsä Group in the last four years. Metsä Group also pays a bonus on forest management services.
