Mariestad mill

Mariestad mill is also called Katrinefors mill. It was established in 1765 by Anders Rodin, who named the mill after his wife Anna Catarina Fors. The mill is located nearby Lake Vänern in Mariestad, Sweden. At the moment, the mill has two paper machines, six converting lines and a deinking plant where we handle recycled paper used in the tissue production process. In Katrinefors mill we produce toilet tissue, household towels and industrial rolls. We have approximately 370 employees. Metsä Tissue is investing in to a fossil free future at its Mariestad mill in Sweden. The investment will increase the availability of locally and sustainably produced tissue products in the Scandinavian market, in which approximately 40 % of tissue usage is currently imported. With this Metsä Tissue will be a forerunning company in investing into sustainable tissue production in Sweden and Scandinavia with its strong brands Lambi, Serla and Katrin. The investment is one of the largest in the tissue business in Europe and the largest within Metsä Tissue. The construction works started during spring 2023 and the renewed mill is planned to be operational in the second half of 2025.
