Hi,
My name is Jani Sillanpää, Senior Vice President Metsä Tissue Nordics and managing director of Metsä Tissue Sweden and a long-time employee of Metsä. Glad you found yourself on our pages now when we are facing a historic investment that Metsä Tissue is making!
In this series of blog posts, you will be able to read greetings from our employees within our organization linked to the expansion and modernization of Mariestad's mill.

On February 9, Metsä Group made the decision to invest SEK 4.2 billion (EUR 370M) in the expansion and modernisation of Mariestad's mill. Our ambitions and demands are high: by 2030 we shall have no emissions of carbon dioxide in our mills and there will also be several other improvements at the mill compared to our current situation. We do this by using the best available technology in terms of machinery and equipment, water, noise and air.

What is particularly close to my heart with this investment is that it allows us to be close to our customers. We want them to feel secured that we can provide them with high-quality fresh fibre tissue products, while ensuring the availability of these essential daily necessities without having to ship them from countries far away. We are now continuing strongly on our path towards sustainable tissue production, where our annual production capacity at the Mariestad mill will be doubled.

Reliability. Cooperation. Renewal. Responsible profitability. These are our values and the foundations of everything we do. Mariestad mill has a rich and valuable history. When we build the Future mill in Mariestad, we do it together with all our employees, they are the heart of our business.
This expansion also means development of the local business community with more jobs and opportunities. We will be able to offer 100 new jobs and we expect the total employment effect to be approximately 2 000 people during the construction period.

Now you must be wondering what will happen next? We are keen to have an open and transparent dialogue with all stakeholders. That's why we have, for example, set up live cameras in the area that allow you to follow the work in real time.

At the beginning of March, we invite you to an open information meeting in the Region Hall, hope to see you there

We will also update the website regularly, inform via social media and send out press releases. Long story short, we'll keep you posted!

With these words I want to say thank you, look out for new faces in the blog in the future. We are very proud and happy to get started with the expansion and modernization of Mariestad mill.
