Living in Mariestad with my family, I'm passionate about working at the Future Mill, where shared challenges push us to grow together.

Safety is not just a word for us – it is a fundamental value that permeates our entire operation. This commitment comes not only from us, but it is equally important that it is shared by our contractors and suppliers. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that everyone who comes to our workplace leaves in the same condition as when they arrived.

Our occupational health and safety management guides us through preparation, planning, implementation, targeted inspections, and final audits. Safety is non-negotiable—we ensure every task is safe, regardless of deadlines. Long-term planning together with regular coordination meetings is key to our successful work.

In our dynamic and diverse workplace, clear routines and strong regulations ensure thorough and effective inspections. We never compromise on safety, regardless of the background or culture of our employees. So far we have had no serious accidents within the project – and that is the path we are committed maintaining by continuously prioritizing safety, fostering a culture of vigilance, and ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols.

Many factors affect how successful our safety work is. Metsä's goal of zero accidents at our mills is an obvious motto. Preventive work is crucial for identifying risk areas and taking measures to prevent accidents. Here are some examples of what we do today:

  • User-friendly Reporting System: We have implemented a system with QR codes where one can report risks anonymously by scanning a code.
  • Active Safety Representative: The chief safety representative from Byggnads is actively involved in our occupational safety work.
  • Collaboration with the Rescue Service: The Rescue Service is familiar with our workplace and our safety plans.
  • Cooperation with Supervisory Authorities: Close collaboration with supervisory authorities to ensure compliance and improvements.
  • Targeted Rounds: Conduct regular and targeted rounds to identify and address risks.
  • Work Stoppage Authority: Everyone on the worksite has the right to stop work if they consider it unsafe.

Finally, I want to encourage everyone: Don't take shortcuts when it comes to safety, everyone should go home in the same condition as they arrived.
