Rising costs have posed some challenges within our business environment but they have also driven innovation and efficiency in our production. We are continuously proud to offer products and value to meet customers’ demand while adapting to the changing market and sustainability needs.
During the year, Metsä Tissue continued to invest in the development of our business with the aim of improving the product portfolio of tissue and greaseproof papers, and enhancing our production efficiency and sustainability in accordance with our strategy.
The key development projects under our Future Mill strategic programme are progressing as planned. For example the expansion and renewal of our mill in Mariestad in Sweden has reached the initial stage of machinery installation. By this time next year, we will be able to serve our customers with increased availability of locally produced tissue paper products in the Scandinavian market. We will commence operations in the renewed mill in the second half of 2025 and we are truly thrilled about offering our new value proposition to our customers soon.
The first stage of the modernisation of our Mänttä mill in Finland has also started with the aim to strengthen Finland’s self-sufficiency in locally produced hygiene products and to focus on offering high quality fresh fibre-based tissue papers mainly to consumers in Finland.
The technical and design work for the new, planned tissue paper mill in the UK is also progressing well and we held our second public exhibition in November, where members of the project team were on hand to answer questions and talk through our plans with local community. At the beginning of December, we submitted a full planning application for the proposed new tissue paper mill to the local authority.
These initiatives, along with many more interesting developments in the efficient production of tissue papers, guide our daily work as we remain committed to delivering high quality hygiene tissue products to our customers.
Thank you, our valued customers and partners, for your collaboration and partnership during this year. I wish you a peaceful and happy holidays, and a joyful New Year! I look forward to growing our business based on our unique value proposition.
