Innovative hybrid sandwich wall element combines concrete and wood bringing efficiency and sustainability to construction
This video highlights hybrid construction: combining wood with other construction materials. Using hybrid elements turns construction more sustainable without changing the way construction companies work today. It is also an easy way to cut down CO2 emissions.
The video introduces the some of the partners who have been involved in the hybrid sandwich element development project initiated by Metsä Wood. Jussi Björman from Metsä Wood highlights the cost-efficiency of building exterior wall elements from concrete and wood. Satu Lipsanen from Lipa-Betoni, a precast element manufacturer, is excited about combining materials – it works well. Structural designer Ari Mättö reminds that Kerto® LVL panels don’t require reinforcement because they have similar compression and tensile strength.
