Sourcing and Logistics operating model
The Sourcing and Logistics function operates across all Metsä Group's business areas with harmonized operating model and processes and it is managed by its own management team.
Metsä Group's sourcing and logistics is organised into three entities: category sourcing, investment and area sourcing and purchasing service centres.
Category sourcing consists of three sourcing clusters: raw materials and packaging, material and service sourcing and logistics.
Regional and investment sourcing cover investment related purchases and indirect sourcing for Metsä Group’s mills. There are altogether 8 regions for mill sourcing: 5 in Finland & Estonia, 2 in Central Europe and 1 in Sweden.
Operational purchasing in Metsä Group is centralized in service centres. Our purchasing service centres in Äänekoski, Finland and Gdansk, Poland take care of tactical bidding, order processing and purchase data management.
The Maritime Logistics Service Centre in Espoo, Finland works with maritime and ports handling, transport request processing, follow-up, spot requests, customs declarations and invoice review.
