Metsä Group continues its partnership with the Finnish Olympic Committee within the #nuorellesiivet campaign for young athletes. Again this year, we are making eight donations to the Olympic Committee Sports Academy across the country to support youth sports coaching. We will also participate in family sports events in our locations and will invite young people from local Sports Academies to visit our mills.
Metsä Group's donations will enable the Academy to hire a professional coach for a full academic year. This will enable high-quality coaching and also improve the opportunities for young people to combine sports and schooling.
Metsä Group’s donation improves young people’s opportunities to combine sports and school. Donations help the Finnish Sports Academies to hire professional coaches for the entire school year.
Donations are made during the mill visits and open family sporting events
This year, we will invite Sports Academy students to visit our mills in five of our locations.
“This is a good opportunity for young people to learn about Metsä Group as a local operator and a prospective future employer,” says Juha Laine, SVP, Communications at Metsä Group.
The first donation of the year will be made in connection with a visit to Metsä Group’s mill in Lohja in February. Visits to the Kaskinen and Rauma mills will be organised in the spring, and visits to the Punkaharju and Joutseno mills will be organised during the autumn..
At the event Liikettä perheille (open sporting events for families), children together with their parents have the opportunity to exercise under the supervision of professional instructors. They will also be provided with information about Metsä Group’s local activities, and our wood supply and other experts will be available to answer any questions.
Open sporting events for families will be held in Rovaniemi in March and in Jyväskylä and Tampere in September.
