At a meeting held on 29 October 2020, the Supervisory Board of Metsä Group’s parent company, Metsäliitto Cooperative, elected Taavi Heikkilä, vuorineuvos (Finnish honorary title), to be a new member of Metsäliitto Cooperative’s Board of Directors during the three year period of 2021-2023. Heikkilä has an extensive work experience from different managerial positions in S Group. Since 2014 he has held the position of SOK’s Chairman and CEO, which he has announced to leave after his successor is appointed and is able to commence work. Additionally, Heikkilä has e.g. been in the Board of Directors of several business organizations.
“I see Metsä Group as a Finnish, responsible and innovative cooperative based company, which board work I look forward to joining”, comments Taavi Heikkilä.
Juha Parpala, agrologist, and Ilkka Salonen, master of Science (Econ.), were elected to continue as members of the Board of Directors during the three year period of 2021-2023. Parpala has been a member of the Board since 2009 and Salonen since 2018.
Board member, forestry and agriculture entrepreneur Johan Björkenheim was not available for further election to Board of Directors.
M.Sc (Econ.), Doctor of Social Sciences (Econ.) Leena Mörttinen has resigned from the Board of Directors.
