Changes in Metsä Group’s Executive Management Team

Esa Kaikkonen has been appointed Metsä Group’s EVP, Strategy. He will move to the position from his post as CEO of Metsä Tissue. Metsä Group’s previous EVP, Strategy Sari Pajari-Sederholm has been appointed Metsä Tissue’s CEO. The changes will take effect on 1 March 2025. 

“Job rotation gives a boost to the Executive Management Team’s work. When experienced professionals move to new roles, they can offer new perspectives, strengthening our decision-making and deepening our expertise. This makes us better equipped to meet challenges more effectively,” says Ilkka Hämälä, President and CEO of Metsä Group.

After the most recent change, Metsä Group’s Executive Management Team will comprise the following members:

  • Ilkka Hämälä, President and CEO, Metsä Group
  • Vesa-Pekka Takala, CFO, Metsä Group, Deputy Managing Director, Metsäliitto Cooperative
  • Esa Kaikkonen, EVP, Strategy, Metsä Group
  • Juha Jumppanen, EVP, Metsä Forest
  • Jaakko Anttila, EVP, Metsä Wood
  • Ismo Nousiainen, CEO, Metsä Fibre 
  • Mika Joukio, CEO, Metsä Board 
  • Sari Pajari-Sederholm, CEO, Metsä Tissue
