At its meeting on 29 April 2025, the Board of Directors of Metsäliitto Cooperative appointed Jussi Vanhanen (LLM, MBA) as CEO of Metsäliitto Cooperative and member of Metsä Group’s Executive Management Team from 1 May 2025. Vanhanen will take over as President and CEO of Metsä Group on 1 July 2025. Metsäliitto Cooperative is Metsä Group’s parent company.

“Jussi Vanhanen’s familiarisation with the position of President and CEO, which he will assume on 1 July 2025, has progressed as planned. There are now good grounds for him to take over some of the management responsibilities so that he can actively participate in the organisation’s structural development. This will also enable the effective planning of strategic development actions,” says Jussi Linnaranta, chair of Metsäliitto Cooperative’s Board of Directors.

Vanhanen will resign from the Board when he assumes his position as CEO. In his new role, he will report to the company’s Board of Directors. Ilkka Hämälä will continue as the President and CEO of Metsä Group until 30 June 2025.
