As a rule, wood products are more ecological than many fossil alternatives, but strict criteria should also be applied to their production. Our objective is to be completely fossil free by 2030, and we are well on track! Currently, 90 per cent of the fuel used in our production is bio-based, and most of it comes from the side streams of our production. At the same time, we produce more than 15 per cent of Finland’s renewable energy. We are continuously reducing our use of process water, which is set to fall by 25 per cent from 2018 levels by 2030.
